{{{ANT}}} I hope you have a great time in Vegas tonight! I wish I could have made it.

Sorry I haven’t been posting. I pulled a few all-nighters this week because of the State Budget. It’s finally on its way to the Governor…but it’s $1.1 Billion short, so this coming week will be spent begging him not to line-item veto any more important funds. My boss is out on medical leave now, so my office of two (which was an office of 3 before budget cuts) is now an office of Me.

Friday my little boy turned 20. I can’t believe I have a 20 year old child! I only got to see him for 3 minutes that morning before I went back to the office. By the time I got home he had left for his weekend at Half Dome (Yosemite). I did get to see him the night before so I’m not feeling too depressed :) My aunt, who lives in Southern California, was passing through on her way to Oregon so I got her to stop closer to me than my sister (her original plan). My sister and the world’s cutest niece and nephew came this way and we all had dinner. It was fun. I love watching my 20 year old son with his 3 and 4 year old cousins. They worship him and he worships them right back….it’s adorable to watch.

Next weekend is my high school reunion. The one I’ve been stalking…I mean tracking people down for for 5 years and now *I* can’t go. I’m actually okay with it, but I’m getting whined at by a bunch of former classmates and it’s starting to get irritating. It’s really out of my hands (unless I think going to the reunion is worth losing my job over….which I don’t)! I hope everyone has a great time.

Emjay, I posted, either here or on FB a few weeks ago about my “Birds.” I can’t believe you’re having the same problem. I’ve been totally trained to not step off of the cement patio onto the grass. I’m terrified :) I’ve determined they are protecting a nest, on the other side of the yard. I can’t wait for those little babies to fly away so mom, and dad, and grandma, and aunts, and uncles, all stop dive-bombing my head! There’s something extremely unsettling about hearing wings flapping next to your head. For the past few days I’ve heard strange sounds coming from that bush, so I’m hoping eggs have hatched and baby birdies are on their way out soon! “The Birds” has always freaked me out….it was filmed about 15 miles from the house I grew up in and there is this irrational little girl in me that thinks there really are birds like that there :D

Oh, and have fun with The Blake! I’m so happy for you that he’s able to make it home

JPB, it’s nice to see you again!

Heidi, How’s life without braces? Are you eating lots of oooey-gooey stuff? And popcorn?

Lydia – I’m glad you made it home safely from your adventure. It looks like you guys had so much fun. I cannot believe all of the different things you were able to do! Lucky, lucky kids to have you and Cathy as parents!!!

I think I’m in for a lazy day. I’m exhausted and my body is telling me I have to relax today (I have my angioedema on the ball of one foot and the heel of the other, so walking hurts). I was picking out some DVDs to take to my boss (we own over 1500) and ended up pulling out a bunch of old movies I want to watch (The Apartment, Gentleman’s Agreement, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Charade, Pillow Talk….) I won’t watch them all, but I’ll watch a few. It’s 10:30 AM and already almost 90 degrees. UGH!

One of these days I need to put a camera in my car so I can share my morning view with you guys. A few mornings a week I turn the corner at the end of my street and find 5-12 hot air balloons right smack in front of me…floating over the farmlands. It’s gorgeous! I live right on the other side of the mountain from Napa where they take off (we call it a mountain, but it’s more of a big hill :) ).

Enough rambling from me. I hope a lot of Colony Members make it to Vegas. I know it’ll be an awesome show!

    {{{hugs}}}

    ANT…The video means 2 words to me..Pure Love ? .

T..So nice to see you here again! ..I had a feeling you were very busy.
Happy B-lated bday to your little big Boy! :) …HSR’s can be very stressful for the person who is organizing..I never went to my 25th either for a many reasons.

Being brace free after 2 1/2 yrs is interesting..I keep finding myself cutting my foods/sandwiches in small pieces still..I have a perm wire in the back of my 6 front teeth so I still have to be careful that it doesn’t break….But it is nice to smile again without feeling self-conscious.

Hope everyone is well and enjoying the summer of non-summer…This weather is crazy.

  3. Heidi Says:

    “Pure Love ? .”

I don’t know why a “question mark” was added…weird…But there is no question as to how much me luvs. :)

  4. Auntie T Says:

Hey Heidi! I had one of those permanent retainers on my bottom teeth when I had my braces removed. I broke it 3 or 4 times on frozen Charleston Chews at the swimming pool (I was 12) so they finally gave me a removable one :)

    Shannon – I hope you’re feeling okay. How long do you have to stay on the new icky meds? I hope they are/were a short term thing and you’re done with them now! Stay strong! {{Shannon}}

Emjay – I hope you’re feeling better too! Hopefully a little dose of The Blake helps :)

Happy Monday….UGH! I am exhausted and running late for work. I stayed up too late working on job #2 (I picked up some database work to make up for my pay cut) and I have a sinus infection that is wiping me out. Emjay, I still think of you every time I do the nasal douche!

ANT – I hope your trip home is quiet and uneventful.

    Have a great week everyone!
    {{{hugs}}}

  5. Emjay Says:

    HI Grillgezzz!

Heidi, every time you speak of your braces it reminds me of when I had them as a tween. I still remember how big, weird, and smooth my teeth felt after I got them off. I am enjoying summer cuz it isn’t BOILING HOT here for the most part. The garden is not doing great, however. I think maybe that has more to do with the idea that it just has run out of nutrients after 12 years of us not really “feeding” it. I need some cowshit…. but with that comes weed seeds…. and lord knows I don’t need more weeds to deal with. :D

T, truly the birds thing is CREEPY isn’t it!?!?! One of them kept coming straight for my face!!! Here’s me totally loving that I have Martins and talked to them every day up on the wire they hang out on. Now I am like “damn you b@stards! Keep it up and I won’t let you HAVE that house next year!” HA!HA!
Sounds like you are workin your arse off! I hope you relax when you can! Photos and vids of your world are always a great idea! :D Oh, and I love that when you squeeze water up your nose you think of me! HA!HA! I know I am a SNOT but geezzzz! HA!HA!HA! I will use mine today and think of you too!

The Blake I think is home until Wed. He had a Doc appt today, his car in for an oil change, and right now is getting 3 new tires on the “new to me” Lincoln named Abbie. I am still dealin with dizzy spells, bad headaches, and just about passed out yesterday when we went to dinner at the casino. I am calling the doc tomorrow and asking her what is up with it all. I can’t function if I feel I am going to fall over at any moment, ya know?
Blake got $60 for his birthday from the Casino last night ($10 plus $50 he “won” Wii Bowling one frame where he got 9 and a spare) and he got a free buffet….. which tonight is “B1G1Free” KING CRAB night…… so we are going again. I WISH I KNEW if I was allergic to crab. I can’t believe I went through all those allergy tests last year and STILL don’t KNOW that!
Anyway. Whatever. Let it go Emjay. HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!

What else can I babble to ya…..
I get my new “HONKING LONG” couches Thursday! They are 101 inches! i am having second thoughts about them but whatever. The price was right and I picked them so, again, whatever. HA!HA!

Blake just got back, got great tires for the car for $81 each. Hurray!!!!!

Better go and hang with him while I can!

    ANT!!!!!!!!
I am sure you had a GREAT Show in Vegas!!!!!!! Love love LOVE to you and all the rest of the spahhhhhhhhhhhhlings!

  6. Lydia (squirrel pie) Says:

Hey ladies (can I call you that? lol) haha

    anyway.
I need to keep myself remembering to come here…and not live at facebook.

hope you are all doing smashing.
it’s kinda rainy looking today..which is nice. a break from the heat would be lovely.

also..found out my deductable on our cars is $50 not $500 like I thought which is nice since both cars have hail damage as does our roof, screens, sideing. the adjusters for the house come on thursday..the deductable for the house is $500 and we take the cars to the adjuster on sunday. hope everything gets fixed.

last time we had hail damage to the roof they didn’t feel the need to replace it…only fix it..and I know it needed replacing.
    anywho.

    have a nice Tuesday

    LONG LIVE THE ANT COLONY

  7. Auntie T Says:

Emjay, I’m wondering if all of the side effects from the blood pressure medication is just that you are feeling different having a lower blood pressure than you’re used to. I have low blood pressure (not dangerously low…just the very low end of normal or a little below normal), and feel the way you are describing 24/7. It’s not comfortable at all, but maybe you just need to get through an adjustment period and then you’ll feel fine on them. It’s fun to get a nurse who doesn’t know me at the doctor’s office…they run around freaked out, calling for the doctor, because of my blood pressure (expecting me to be dead or something). The doctor always comes in and says, “She’s fine. This is her normal.” There is no medication to raise your blood pressure :) Whatever it is, I hope you feel better soon.

Lydia – I am amazed at your hail damage…and it sounds like it’s something you guys experience often. On the rare occasion we get hail here, we consider it gigantic if it’s the size of a pencil eraser. But hail sounds nice…that would mean it’s cool outside. It’s been weeks since we’ve been below 100 degrees (over 105 most days). Actually, today it’s nice and cool outside…we may not break 100 (it’s only 96 degrees at 1:45pm). Send me some hail please!

Shannon – How are you doing? Have they rescheduled your surgery? I’m thinking of you all the time.

I better get back to work…in my state that is going to look like a Third World County soon, thanks to the insane budget reductions made over the past week.

I found this so inspiring, I had to share http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GpsJxiBAC4&feature=player_embedded

  9. Craig Says:

((Auntie T)) Thanks for the super duper sized update. I can’t believe you are now an office of ONE! Are you a good boss? Do you recognize your employees? :-P And I can’t believe you are taking on a second job as well! Wow! Also thanks for the youtube clip. Great Story!

((Lydia)) I had to take a break from Facebook. I was living there a little tooooo much.
((Emjay)) Hoping you feel better soon!
    Have a great Wednesday!

  10. JPB Says:

{{{{{{{Craig}}}}}}} It’s been way too long since I’ve run into you around here.

{{{Auntie T}}} – now don’t get too used to being the Boss, worker bee and peon all rolled into one. I am sure it makes for a stressful day. Maybe it will make that low blood pressure of yours raise a little. I too had really low blood pressure but no longer since I put on some weigh. I can’t wait to get back to that “problem”.

{{{Emjay}}} – I hope things work out with the meds and all that is going on with you. Any more funeral things to work on? It seems like the population there must have cut back by 10% at this rate. Hopefully there are many joyous births happening in the town.

{{{Lydia!!!!! }}}get your arse over here from facebook on a regular basis. I will be trying to stop in more too. Although I need to go and check out some of those vacation photos of yours.

{{{{Heidi}}}} – Braces free!!! Yipee! I remember that day. I had the permanent retainer cemented to the back of my teeth. The Orthodonist had to remove it before a year was up. I have a problem with electrical current passing through my tounge and the metal in my mouth with braces made it really bad. They thought all would be well with just the small retainer but it wasn’t. It was take out the retainer or I had to stay away from everything that had acid in it (tomatos, grapes, etc…. almost everything I loved) or keep my tounge painted with getian violet to insolate it. Having a purple mouth all the time was not a fun thing. My teeth shifted back a little bit with out the retainer but not too noticible to other people, just me. I have to check out the Braceless Heidi.

I have an interview tomorrow for a full time job with the school system. It’s actually for an Inclusion Helper with the Autism program at a nearby elementary school. This is what kept me working as a substitute for the last 6 weeks of the school year. I love the children there. It’s not where my girls go, but it’s a job and I would have the summers off with them. I could put them on the bus and then go right to work. I might be able to have them go home from school on a different bus to my friend’s house. It would drop them off about 20 minutes later then at our house and I would be able to make it there just in time. I would just have to work out the days when the girls would be off from school and I have to go to work. I might be able to take them with me or on occassion my friend might watch them. I am hoping things work out. It doesn’t pay that well, but the benefits are excellent and it’s a foot in the door for moving into other openings in the school system. A tiny, steady income is better then none.

    I’ll keep you informed.

  11. Lydia (squirrel pie) Says:

    hi again peeps.
the keys on my puter are sticking or something so when I type it’s leaving out letters. annoying.
T.we don’t get hail often at all. maybe twice a summer….in our area anyway. and the hail large enough to cause windows to break on houses and cars to get dinged up is pobably only once every four years or so.

I think the hail damage on our rof that we had been working with the insurance company about was old..like maybe a few years old. we had some wind that took off some shingles a month or 2 ago…that is how we found out e had hail damage to start with. Then last wek we got the big hail storm…that caused some new hail damage for sure.

our roof, window frames, siding, trampoline, screens on windows, cars…all kinds of stuff dinged up at our house.
I have learned through this that i am glad we have wood siding and not vynil. the houses with vynil siding have huge chunks missing…and llots of them. we just have tiny dings or make little peices missing of the surface, but not huge chunks.

insurance person comes today. fingers crossed for a new roof:)
