Ok so I just got off the phone with the Las Vegas Show promoter for my upcoming appearance at KRAVE (July 26th, 2009 8:30pm) and they told me I could have unlimted complimentary admissions. So at the risk of gettting utterly swamped and flooded with emails, I am aksing you to email amy@improv-vegas.com. PLEASE BE ADVISED — IN YOUR FIRST email you must provide your FULL REAL NAME, # of tickets (max 6), and your TELEPHONE number. If you don’t include what I just asked for, YOU WILL NOT GET TICKETS. WE WILL NOT BE CHASING YOU DOWN. DO NOT ask for tickets if you don’t plan on using them. I am getting the reservation list back at the end of the night from the club and those that didn’t show up will not be invited to other events. I want the seats to go to those that will use them.

The day before the show, those of you that requested tickets and supplied all that was asked for above, will get a confirmation email that they can bring with them to the theatre. Picture ID is required the day of show.

This is a fun night of comedy with Shayma Tash, Jason Dudey and Myself. I hope many of you can make it. Drive into Vegas if you live close. Fly in if Southwest Airlines flies out of your local airport…Don’t they have fares for like $39 each way?

I hope to see you there. Pass this info to others you know who may be in the area. Entertainment in Las Vegas can be very costly… Up to $350 a ticket for most shows. Save $$ and have a blast! Promise.

What a generous offer! I wish so much I could be there, but that weekend is the weekend that starts the end of my life as I know it for two months, and I won’t be going anywhere or doing anything but work

July and August are 2 of the craziest months of the year at work…when I typically work about 100 hours a week. I work in an office of two people and sadly my boss was diagnosed with Cancer two weeks ago. She will be having surgery (which they think will be all she needs…please think no chemo/radiation thoughts for her) on the 24th and will be out until the middle of September. So I’m on my own…

If you manage to book the same weekend in Vegas next year, I can bring my son for his 21st birthday (his birthday is the 24th).

Shannon, I hope you’re doing okay. I was so disappointed for you when I read your post this morning…somehow this will all work out though…I can feel it.

Emjay – I hope the time of day switch works better for you! I worry about you too.

Craig – Because Emjay commented on the picture of you and Argus on Facebook, I was able to see it. The two of you are just adorable

I hope things turn around for everyone this week!

I believe I am feeling better!!
Yippeeee! For real I am soooooo happy to be feeling “not suck”!

I have 2 more antibiotics to take.
I started takin my High blood pressure pills at night. That and my body getting used to them is making me feel not so tired, not so dizzy, not so blah.

I Mowed the yard for an hour last night, mowed again for over an hour today. 2 hours of walking? Me? groovy.

I feel Hope. First time in quite awhile.
I refuse to think this is just a temp thing.
I will embrace hope and put it on a leash.
I will love it and feed it and believe in it.

I woke up today feeling exhausted. The emotions of selling my horse painting yesterday to the owner of those horses sorta haunted me all night. I am glad I did it, and know I did the right thing by selling it to him for $300 rather than the $800 I planned on, but it was just so emotional. They are his horses. I had to let him have the painting. Yet, still it still is on my mind. Not in a bad way, just in a way.
I also have been dealing with the “head guy” of our art group not liking me. Some say he is jealous of me, some say he doesn’t like people who have ideas that are different from his. I say it is draining and is breaking my spirit.
Last Thursday night was the last straw for me.
He had arranged for our 60 paintings from this show to be put into 2 venues for the next 2 weeks. A bank in town that has few customers coming in regularly (drive up window for one reason, 4 banks in this small town, another.) Also, a tourist place that had 500 people come through in the last 4 days.
So the “second in command” woman tells us and asks us which place we want our stuff in. I said that obviously the better choice for exposure was the tourist place. There is only room for 30-40 paintings of the 60. I suggested that every artist be asked and then divide the available room by the number of artists interested. Example: if 10 artists want to be at this place, then divide 10 into 30 and each can bring 3 paintings.

well, the head dude who hates me had painted 15 paintings or something and said to me “so, that means that those of us who worked hard and painted alot of paintings get punished????”
WHAT!?!??!?!
Another artist looked at me like “what the flock did he just say????”
I then asked him what part would be punishment, because he was just FINE with everyone else having to put their paintings in the less busy venue.

I then looked at the woman who looked at me like this man is a moron, and said “I can’t do this, I have to go”. I walked out, told the #2 woman, who by this time had pansy assed herself outside to avoid the conflict she helped to start…… and I told her to please take care of my paintings and the paintings of the other artist who I was in charge of.

This man is a misogynist, I am sure of it. He hates strong women, smart women. He wants this “group” to do everything his way or else.
I don’t play like that.
I believe in cooperation, group ideas, etc.
Most of the group just rides his coat tails because he is the only one who sets things up, makes easels, tries to promote the group. But he only does this if things are done his way.
UGh.
Makes me sad.
I have always been a people pleasure, wanting people to like me.
I will miss the women who know how to have fun and love art and painting from their souls. I just can’t deal with how my being in the same room as him makes everyone uncomfortable.
I may still put stuff in their shows etc, if they have them….. but I guess I am not going to beat my head against a brick wall (a redneck hillbilly brick wall at that) in order to participate.
I have bigger fish to fry.

MJ I think it is time to find another ‘venue’ for your paitings. I would talk with any local shops that sell paintings. Perhaps you can can display your work in their place for a 10% commission to them if the painting sells.
Clothing shops which make displays in their windows might appreciate a painting to go along with their displays. Again…if it sells a commission to the shop that sold it. Just a thought. Wishing you well.
