“Strength is more than being able to lift heavy things. Faith isn’t just something you have when things are going great. Living in the moment requires no thought. Love should never come with conditions. Happiness is a choice. Failure is always the first step toward success. A change lives inside you now.” –the ant colony

Well it’s 1am Saturday on the East coast so your show should be over. I know it went well. I can’t wait to have the special guest on the blog. Make the most out of your weekend and have a blast during the shows.

No Black Friday shopping for me. I never get into that.

  3. Malky Says:

Hope the show went well, not well GREAT!! As for PROP 8, get passionate, that is one thing that got me out of my depression after my loss. I just think that (well I believe that all things happen for a reason). I was soooo depressed and not working. Well reading a newspaper (don’t know what gave me the strength to even do that. Saw an ad for a part time nurse, for a new HIV facility. Got the job, it was only a few days a week, got huge and I mean HUGE in ACT UP (you can google it for those who don’t know about it, it is a very active HIV/AIDS rights group (ah, some called us militant, but, thats what I needed), I worked for gay men’s health crisis center and delivered meals to home bound HIV/Aids persons in NYC, and volunteered with something called HYACINTH foundation in NJ. So then I got a full time job at the same HIV/AIDS facility that hired me as a part time nurse. This time as director of admissions. I got this new energy to help the world try to understand and help this disease. My sadness turned to anger but anger that produced ENERGY. Energy that I hope made a difference. I would like to think it did.

Turkey day was Friday for us at my sisters house with all of our kids (almost my eldest was at a friends bar mitzvah), so it was a very loud Friday and Saturday. My daughter is still with her and she is taking my others tomorrow except my older one who will go to the bar mitzvah party with us.

Neck – mild to severe pain most of the weekend. Soft neck brace helps for small amounts of time. Not doing the predisone this time, NSAIDS (non steroidal anti-inflamitory drugs) such as aleve, advil, and something of course so my stomach doesn’t get ripped up. Muscle relaxer and pain meds. Going to surgeon on Monday. We are trying to avoid any surgery, and do PT, because all discs are a mess from c3-c7. So I was told I have a very fragile neck. Hmmmm, can’t have anything fragile and be a mom.

ANT I am sure you ROCKED, and Richard is and always will be with you.

Family— hmmm, I had a previous post on mine with my “living situation”. Not the same, but the strain started there. So, I send you my love, and I think every human being has the right to live their life as they want (well, not too fond of terrorists). Everyone needs someone as a partner in life and should be able to say partner, husband, wife, etc. And get the same benefits that married people do. Taxes, buying homes, insurance, raising children etc.

Love you all, hope you all had a great turkey day and week end.

    love,
    malky

I am popping in to see how everyone is doing this weekend.

Malky, I hope you find a solution and relief to your pain. I know pain all too well and will keep you in my thoughts. You are so right, can’t have anything fragile and have children to take care of.

Heidi, how are you doing with your pain? How much longer until the braces come off? I really need to catch up with you.

Auntie T, you have gotten more unpacked then I have in 3 1/2 years. I hope you are having better days with your pain too.

ANT, I am glad you had the chance to read Richard’s update. Isn’t it wonderful how we can find something that was left for us and it is there to give us peace. Something tangible to remind us. I know the shows this weekend where great.

Much peace and love during the Holidays.

  5. Auntie T Says:

    Happy Holidays!

I’m a little bummed right now. My plan for today was to head to The City and meet up with a friend who is returning from Southern California. We were going to go see “MILK” (it hasn’t been released where I live yet) and then catch ANT’s last show…but my car won’t start and I don’t know what’s wrong with it. ARGH! My former neighbor (My “As Needed Husband”) is going to come by in a bit and see if it’s something he can fix. Keep your fingers crossed that he can fix it please!

Malky – I feel your pain. Mine is C5/6 and C6/7. My pain has decreased significantly, thank goodness, but sometimes when I move my head a certain way it gets me and a lot of times I wake up in the middle of the night (I must be sleeping on it wrong). I can’t take NSAIDS (I’m allergic) and I refuse to take Prednisone (last time I gained 50 pounds in 5 weeks and my liver started shutting down). So I’m doing physical therapy (once every 7-10 days isn’t helping much), traction and ice at home and taking pain-killers as needed. My fingers are still numb and occasionally my entire arm will tingle for a few hours, but I think I’m improving :)

We’ll see if I just reinjured it though. I just moved a china cabinet (put my butt against it and pushed) and a solid oak dresser from the living room to the garage, alone. I used my arms as little as possible, but we’ll see.

Jennifer – You’ve got a long way to go to catch up with me! I lived in my last place for 11 years and when I moved there were boxes in the garage that I had never unpacked from the move 11 years ago! I really don’t want that to happen this time!

Heidi – Did the shot help? I hope so!

ANT – Hopefully I’ll be in the audience tonight.

I’m off to move some more (small) stuff around so maybe we can get a tree and decorate this week (for the first time since 2004).

    LONG LIVE THE ANT COLONY

  7. Auntie T Says:

I didn’t make it to the show last night :( My borrowed husband thought it was my starter. I went out this morning to try once more before calling the tow truck and it started! I immediately drove to the garage. He looked at it while I was there, came back in and said, “Your starter is fine, but you need a new one of these,” and held up a little tiny piece of plastic (it looked plastic to me). Some connector had cracked so wires weren’t making a connection. Way cheaper than a starter…WHEW!

ANT – I hope you enjoyed your weekend in the city where I was born and spent my first few formative years (which is blamed for my wackyness). If you’re flying out this morning I hope you’re not fogged in! We’re having CHP escorts on the freeway here this morning. It’s finally cold (at least until the fog burns off).

I hope everyone has a great week!

    {{{hugs}}}

  8. Malky Says:

    Auntie T

Glad it wasn’t an expensive repair. We have have a mini-van sitting in the driveway not working (hoping to get it towed tomorrow) but we’ll see. And see how much it will cost, don’t have that much to spend. But hard to get by with 1 car. I can walk to work. But, I was in so much pain after work, I had my husband drive me back up to the city he works in (where my neurosurgeon is, and 44 miles away), poor guy. Not a great report or different about my neck then my gp last week. Get the MRI, the PT and we’ll see, and pain management through my gp (general practice doctor).

Sorry you missed ANT. I haven’t been to San Fransisco in over 20 years. I LOVE California but was a West Hollywood, Long Beach (coastal), and Sand Diego (wow, various regions) type of girl.

Now before kids (and hubby, well after him too) The Village and SoHo was my stopping grounds, more village than anything else.

Just too cold, crowded for my taste. Give me Southern Ca. weather anytime of the year…..ah…paradise. I know smog and all but still. Beats oil refineries, chemical plants, etc. anytime.

Hope you broke a leg at the show ANT.

    Love to all,
    malky
