Hi spaaaaaalings,

I miss our convos here. It’s no one’s fault but mine that I have not been here as much since the glory days of 1,000 posts! HA!HA!HA!

I am sooooo frackin frustrated with Elena being sick right now that I just have to come to a quiet place and cry. Sorry ANT. I know this is your website and I have no idea how many people read it but don’t ever post cuz they have to register, figure it out, etc. I just have not been able to stop tears from rolling down my face all night. Our friend Elena is in so much pain.
I am at a loss of what to do for her.
I can’t fix it.
I am praying that THIS, the 3rd ER doc, will be able to figure out why she has such pain in her face and now has a swollen neck.
Ugh.
I am writing and deleting over and over.
I don’t want to say anything I shouldn’t.
I don’t want to betray anything about this glorious woman.
I just want to say to anyone who reads this that Elena is an amazing, beautiful, thoughtful soul and if you could pray for her to have awesome things happen I would be appreciative.
We all don’t get dealt lives that include family support, money, health.
Crap.
I am a mess.
Why do I love some woman I have never spoken to or seen?
I blame the colony.

It worked. Her insane pain diagnosed by 2 ER docs as some chronic illusive nerve pain…….. is an abscessed tooth. She got a shot of morphine and needs to fill a penicillin scrip. I WILL make sure she can get that.
Something so simple.
Care of a doctor.
Old school antibiotic.
Shouldn’t we all have the right to have such simple healthcare?
I guess not.
Our friend Elena has no right to it.
She doesn’t have insurance or cash to pay upfront for things like the luxury of “basic health”.
Ugh.
I am sooooo thrilled she was misdiagnosed 2 times by 2 docs yesterday…… but saddened by it as well.
THANK GOD her throat swelled after hours so she could rationalize going to the ER tonight to find out what was wrong.

Poor Elena with the abcess, but thank goodness it isn’t the lifelong nerve damage thingie!!! I couldn’t agree with you more, Emjay, on the healthcare issue!

{{{ANT}}} I hope you’re doing okay this week.

I’ve been trying really hard to avoid my own funk (the anniversary of my father’s death is next week…Tuesday. The year he passed away it was Thanksgiving Day, which has pretty much ruined that holiday for me). This year instead of moping around my house remembering all of the Thanksgivings with my dad (and that last awful Thanksgiving Day with him) being sad, I am going to spend the day at the hospital with my friend’s son, so she can go home to her family for the day (3 hours away).

He is doing SO WELL! He’s out of ICU and starting his Rehabilitation Therapies today (Occupational, Physical and Speech). He can’t talk yet because of the trach, but he mouthes words. Last night when I was leaving I heard his mom say, “T?” “T, H wants you.” I went back to his bed and said, “What’s up, Sweetie?” and he mouthed, “I love you” I MELTED! It was one of the most beautiful I love yous I have ever experienced. Just one week ago I was sitting by his bedside, with him 98% unconscious and drugged out of his mind, wiping the drool from his chin and making sure he was breathing without the respirator…and yesterday he’s smiling and telling me he loves me. I can’t think of a better way to spend the day to keep me out of my Thanksgiving Funk this year

I’m also going to sit with him after work tonight so she can head home to see her 11 year old daughter’s last basketball tournament tomorrow (and I’ll be there tomorrow and Sunday morning until she gets back). I’ll get to go do his therapies with him and I can’t wait to see what he’s able to do!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I think about you guys all of the time and wish I had more time to spend here “hanging out.” Hopefully it will be soon that I can do it more

Goodnews about Elena that it wasn’t as serious as thought. The antib should take a few days to kick in.

T..Those types of Anniversaries r tough..I’ll be thinking of you. I try to keep myself busy.

That story has me teary again.
Amazing.
I also can understand how Thanksgiving is now different for you.
My mom died a week before Mother’s day, which is a good holiday for that to have happened I guess cuz it wouldn’t be a good holiday after her passing anyway.

I can’t tell you how relieved I am about our friend Elena. She is still in so much pain, and is working to find a dentist she can go to. Hopefully the antibiotics will get rid of the infection soon so she can get rid of the pain and then get rid of the tooth.

It is glorious weather here again today. 50 and sunny. AMAZING! Stores in town have their doors propped open and we are all driving around with our windows down.

Nice to squeeze both of you together at once.

I have missed everyone here. Life is so busy, mostly in a good way, I won’t sweat the bad times. As the ever wise Dove chocolate’s words: Don’t worry about the potholes, enjoy the journey.

I work with three of the best women I could ever know, next to all of you that is. Work is stressful and tiring but we get through it together.

The girls remain busier then ever (which means I am always busy) along with getting great grades in school.

I am always thinking of my dear friends here and try to figure out when I will find the time to pop in. I just wish I could find more time to get back in touch with all of you.

I am Thankful for the wonderful people I know here, at the other Colonies, and for ANT who helped us become a special family.

AWE! HI JPB!!!
ALWAYS nice to see you. Sounds like a good busy life you have there. Also sounds like eating Dove chocolates is a good idea!

I am up again at 3ish and wandering around my house and the internet.
I decided that instead of lying in bed for hours at a time awake, it makes more sense to get up, do something, get my mind to stop thinking the things it thinks when I lay in bed with insomnia, and perhaps maybe my body will then say “hey, ya know, sleeping does seem like an option cuz being up I realize how tired I am.” (good gourd that was a loooooong sentence!)

I think it may have worked.
I am going back to bed.

Happy Black Friday Did any of you crazy kids go shopping today?

I was at the hospital as substitute mom for the third day in a row (real mom got back around Noon). I tired! It’s so exhausting, but so uplifting at the same time. He’s making such crazy progress each day…it blows me away. The best parts of the days, besides seeing how well he’s doing with all of his speech, occupational and physical therapies, is when he tells me he loves me His trach is out, so I don’t have to lip-read now…I just have to listen closely because he’s only whispering so far…but YAY!

I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving! ANT, I thought about you a lot yesterday…I hope you were enjoying your day (and every day).
