I just got to hear this … I know how hard it is to put a fur-baby to sleep. I have to do it for people, too and it’s just gut killing. I hope you and G. are giving each other lots of doggy tlc.

I hope everyone is doing well. ANT, you’ve been on my mind a lot lately. I hope you’re doing okay…I’ve been saying extra prayers for you, just in case I have ESP or something

Lydia – I hope Cathy is feeling better. I’m so glad she’s finally back home!

Emjay – You always make me smile Thank you for that!

Heidi – How are you doing? I got spoiled seeing little snippets from you on FB, but you’ve been quiet lately. All I seem to have time for these days is a quick glance at FB a few times a day.

Life has been busy here (what else is new)? Work is supposed to be quiet this time of year, but this year that isn’t happening. I’ve also been trying to help out my friend who is down here with her son. He had his first big surgery on Monday (10 hours). They were worried about circulation in the area so he went back in Tuesday for another 4 hours surgery to check all of the arteries and veins and whatever else they had sewn together. I saw the area (his head) yesterday during a dressing change and it looks fantastic (really it looks like someone glued a flesh colored whoopie cushion to his head, because of the swelling….but that’s much more attractive than when there was nothing there ). He’s been taking 2 steps forward and 1 step back for the past few days (opiate withdrawal from the 4 weeks of sedation)…the ventilator is doing all the work again. He was on it, but was initiating his own breaths…it was just there for when he forgot to take one, but the withdrawal is really messing him up. It’ll be okay though…he has to do it at some point so better sooner than later. He’s making a lot of baby steps though, and that’s exactly what he needs to be doing. As always, prayers are welcome

Been there! I’m so sorry it happened to you…It stinks!

December 24th, 2004, I woke up to my doorbell ringing. It was a police officer telling me my car had been broken into during the night. They took everything they could take. Every cassette tape of mine, and my 4 year old son’s; Christmas gifts that were in the trunk; they pilfered through the bag of clothes I was going to donate that day. They weren’t bright enough to push the button…the one with a picture of the trunk popping open…instead they ripped out the backseat to get into the trunk. They siphoned my gas and took my spare tire (it was a freakin’ Hyundai)!

I had just passed the 6th Anniversary of my attack a few weeks earlier and had been in a bit of a funk. Somehow, the car being broken into didn’t upset me as much as I thought it should. My thoughts were, “There isn’t anything that can’t be fixed or replaced. It’s just stuff. It’s not me this time!” Until….the hood of the car was popped up (like they pushed that button instead of the trunk). After the police were done with fingerprinting I lifted up the hood to drop it shut, and saw that they took my battery. To this day I can’t tell you why, but *THAT* was it…I lost it. Isn’t that crazy?

They did leave one thing though! We had celebrated Christmas with my family the night before, because my parents were leaving on a trip that day (Christmas Eve). My sister had made me a cassette tape…a joke…songs from our childhood….John Denver’s Greatest Hits! It was in the cassette player because I was torturing my son, by singing along, on our way home that night. It was the only tape we had left! LOL

{{{ANT}}} I’m so sorry you’re feeling violated (among other emotions). It will pass in time though. The 21st Anniversary of my attack will be here in less than 2 weeks. I know the date, but I no longer dread it. Fantastic things came out of it that I wouldn’t trade for the world! Everything happens for a reason. And now, 15 years later, the Christmas Eve break-in story is just another funny Holiday Story (being left with John Denver, and I still shake my head at my reaction to the battery being gone), like the Easter all of my mother’s plumbing backed up and flooded the house in the middle of dinner, or the Thanksgiving morning we woke up to find the oven didn’t work, so my mom made the entire Thanksgiving meal on the stove top and the BBQ…in the pouring rain

ANT..Sorry about your car situation and for sure u must feel violated!..I felt that way when my bank account was hacked into a couple of months ..I was able to get the money back within 10 days ..thankgod! But still I felt violated as well.

T Bird..I love John Denver. I remember a big memorial held for him after he died in Aspen. It was so awesome. Standing in the middle of the white mountans with people singing his songs. it was great.

Speaking of Aspen….I will see you there Mr. ANT.
Aspen is my second home ya know. Spent half my childhood there. Can’t wait. Phil and I had been chatting about him flying out for Gay Ski Week since last year…..so it’s amazing that you will actually be there…and so will we:)
Can’t wait to see ya. Dress warm. it’s frockin cold up there:)
